Passersby : Work in Progress
How do those living on the street see us and their world? Where does their gaze fall? In the distance with a blurring of passersby? Or catch a glance of a downward look? Perhaps an unfocussed faraway stare? How do we feel about them and they about us? To engage or ignore? Why us and them anyway?
This collection of images, joined with excerpts of poetry about homelessness, aims to challenge our thinking about this issue and our response to them as fellow citizens.
The images put the viewer in their shoes, deliberately avoiding directly photographing the homeless as the intent is focussed on enlightening us and how we view the homeless. They are taken in various towns in the north west - Manchester, Macclesfield, Stoke, Congleton.
Across the way I see this sidewalk ruler, I'm delighted to meet you, sir. I'm only one person, but I'm interested to hear all about who you are, who you were, and to know your magnificent story.

You see us on your commute everyday, not just litter strewn on your busy way. We live our lives as you do. Once we were part of your rabble too.
